“I chose to be in the field of audiology for one reason. People
The joy that comes from being with a patient who had not been able to understand or connect with loved ones for a while and can now do that…is emotional for me.
I always get the feeling of pure joy and in some cases it brings a tear of happiness to me. The look on the persons face that now understands what is being said clearly, well…that is amazing.
My work is fulfilling, I can actually help improve someone’s life for the better. Patients come back to tell how they were with family, and now they can actually participate in the conversation that they had not been able to do so before.
-Going to mass and hearing what the priest was saying for the first time in years.
-Sitting with grandchildren and actually talking to them instead of watching.
Each and every time I hear these stories, I am moved on a level that no other profession could provide. It is overwhelming…pure joy and the greatest satisfaction I could ever hope for.
That is why I do what I do for my profession.”
